BackupExec 12.5 Compatability issues with Windows 2008 R2

If you are experiencing backup errors with you’re Windows 2008 Server R2 edition.  Specifically when backing up Exchange 2007.   This is a known issue with Backup Exec 12.5 and is not supported.

If you are experiencing any of the following errors

V-79-57344-65225 - A failure occurred accessing the Writer metadata.

V-79-57344-65225 - AOFO: Initialization failure on: "System?State". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).

Snapshot provider error (0xE000FEC9): A failure occurred accessing the Writer metadata.

Check the Windows Event Viewer for details.

I have spoken with Enterprise support a few times regarding these issues and they are known from Symantecs end and have been told that these issues will be fixed with the upcoming release.

If you are running Exchange 2007 and would like to have it backed up.   I suggest either rolling back to Windows Server 2008 or using another backup solution which is compatible with Exchange 2007
