If you are using a MS Exchange server, you may need to change your FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) in your SMTP connector settings, so that it matches your external MX and DNS records. You should also make sure that reverse DNS is set up to match the server IP that hosts your mail server. E.i. mail.fakemailserver.com -> 203.34.123.2 There should also be a CNAME record setup for the mail server.
An example of what your DNS settings should look like.
A Record -> mail.fakemailserver.com -> 203.x.x.x MX Record -> mail.fakemailserver.com For reverse DNS, it is usually the controller via your ISP. This can be arranged and set up to point to the mail server.
